Twenty five thousand fans every ten hours

Twenty five thousand fans every ten hours

All the latest technologies. Over a period of two years three terminals were built and renovated at Kharkov airport. The investor has spent one hundred seven million dollars on the whole airport complex. During the Euro Championship three terminals can receive up to twenty-five thousand passengers every ten hours. The old one is made in the style of the mid-twentieth century. It will serve for VIP passengers. The temporary one will be used as a terminal only during the Euro. After that it will be transformed into a hangar for aircrafts. The skeletal structure of the new terminal was constructed of metal, an air heating system and sound-absorbing roof were installed. Thanks to it you can not hear the echo when there are announcements.

Vitaliy Nedashkovskiy, deputy director for strategic development of the international airport «Kharkov».

We will install the additional equipment, the domestic airlines will be used as International, the part of the terminal will be used in reverse mode, and all these temporary measures during the Euro will provide us with the acceptance rate of 1300 passengers per hour.

Holland, Germany, Denmark and Portugal. From these countries, which will play in Kharkov, we are awaiting most of fans. Whether the citizens of other countries will visit the first capital or not, we could get to know just two or three weeks before the beginning of the championship, when they will buy tickets to Kharkov. Foreigners will move mainly by regular flights, it is said in the airport. In autumn next year there a new runway will be waiting for them. It will be built of several layers. They consist of compacted soil, cement and concrete. Therefore it does not melt under sun and can bear any weight of the aircrafts. The state allocated seven hundred fifty million Hryvnia for the runway. Soon another hundred and sixty million Hryvnia are expected. When it is completed, the new runway will be able to take any mid-range aircraft.

Alexander Sivalniov, the head of the Directorate of the construction of international airport «Kharkov».

The only thing we do not accept are long-haul aircrafts, which fly at a distance of 10-15.000 kilometers. I think that this is enough for Kharkov, because there are about 11 percents of aircrafts of the total number of passenger aircrafts, which fly to remote distances.

For the following year, there remain the tasks to install the special equipment on the runway, to complete the construction of taxiways, the rescue station and the operational control tower. Then Kharkov airport will receive the second category. This is the category of airports that can accept all types of medium-range aircrafts.
