Biography

Was born on December 05, 1959, in Zhdanov (now Mariupol). Graduated from Kharkiv State University of Food and Trade with a degree of Engineering Technologist. In 1989, completed a postgraduate training program at Odesa Technological Institute, received a PhD in Technical Sciences. In 1990-1991, worked at Kharkiv Institute of Food. After the collapse of the USSR, started in business.

From 1998, Oleksandr Yaroslavskyi was the President and major shareholder of JSC UKRSIBBANK, the control of which in 2006 was transferred to BNP Paribas an international financial group. In 2007, O. Yaroslavskyi created and headed DCH Investment Management Group.

2002-2006 – People’s Deputy of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the 4th convocation.

Ex-President of FC Metalist of Kharkiv.

Merits

  • Second Class Order of Merit  (for substantial contributions to the socio-cultural development of Kharkiv, reconstruction of Metalist stadium, years-long dedicated work (2009);

  • Glory of Slobozhanshchyna Region (Honorary Award of Kharkiv Region Council), (2009).

Main projects of Oleksandr Yaroslavskyi in Kharkiv:
  • $300 mln investments for Kharkiv to become Euro-2012 Host City (construction of the stadium, airport, the first luxury hotel in the city, etc.);
  • The “golden era” of Kharkiv Metalist Football Club (six bronze medals, silver medal, eurocups);
  • Olimp Rugby Club - the most award-winning club in Ukraine, the basis of the national team;
  • Ecopolis KhTZ Business-Park ($1 bln investments by 2033);
  • UKRSIBBANK of Kharkiv, which due to Yaroslavskyi reached the national level, then the international level as a member of BNP Paribas;
  • Kharkiv International Airport was constructed by Yaroslavskyi for Euro-2012 (1.3 mln passengers in 2019, arrival of international carriers, European recognition);
  • Kharkiv Palace Hotel 5*, a new architectural monument, ornament of the city of Kharkiv and the center of the city’s business and cultural life;
  • systematic support of Kharkiv higher educational institutions;
  • anti-COVID measures, pandemic response; PCR tests for Ukraine and Kharkiv, “artificial lung” for Kharkiv hospitals, food packages and medical kits for Kharkiv pensioners, mobilization of Kharkiv business community.
