Top-5 large-scale purchases of Kharkiv in 2011

In the last year Kharkiv was actively developed and built. As it turned out, the most expensive projects were realized within the bounds of preparation of the city for Euro 2012. Kharkiv could not pretend to be the host city without the construction of new hotels, the airport reconstruction, the renovation of the public transport, but expensive gifts will remain after the final part of Europe Championship. "Segodnya" decided to recall the most expensive gifts, which Kharkiv citizens have received in 2011 (see illustration).

Perhaps the new airport can be called the most expensive gift. The VIP terminal, hangar for business aviation and a new runway have been completed there. The runway costed $ 126 million for the state budget.

The main investor of Euro 2012 Aleksander Yaroslavskiy invested a little less, $ 97 million, in the airport complex and the surrounding area. However, the construction work at the airport will continue at least until March of the next year.

"Any day now the lighting equipment has to be mounted, it will help to remove the limits that exist for the airport in low visibility conditions. There remains to complete the airfield control tower, the localizer system, and also to complete the construction of main taxiway and connecting taxiway with pyrone", - said the deputy director for strategic development of the “New Systems AM”  company Vitaliy Nedashkovskiy to "Segodnya".

Another expensive gift that Kharkiv has received by the private investor is the 5-star hotel "Kharkiv Palace" which has received its first guests on the 15th of December. In a record short time of a year and a half in place of the wasteland, which disfigured the view of the central square for many years, the new hotel has arisen, where the UEFA family will be located during the championship.
