Aleksandr Yaroslavskyy promises to finish the runway in the Kharkiv airport this year

General investor and coordinator of Kharkiv preparation for Euro-2012 Aleksandr Yaroslavskyy promises to finish the runway in the Kharkiv airport this year. This he said in an interview with "Izvestiya in Ukraine".

"We say: fly, fly. But where to? To London or Vienna, and then with changes to Kyiv, and then transfer and fly to Kharkiv or Donetsk? People do not want this. They feel more comfortable to take a plane in London and fly to Kharkiv, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk," - said Yaroslavskyy.

"If there was a place to arrive to, there will be companies to bring their planes", - he said.

Talking about the preparations for Euro 2012, the investor told about the plans of development of Kharkiv International Airport. According to him, the runway of the new terminal will be finished this year.

"On 28 August, we introduced the airport terminal into operation. Until the end of the year, with financial support from the government, probably we will finish the runway. The next year, I think it will be completely operating. The stadium was put into operation, and the construction of five-star hotel is now in full swing" - said Yaroslavskyy.

According to the businessman, the potential volume of passenger traffic in Kharkiv is 4.8 million. "This Sumy, Belgorod, Poltava and part of the Zaporozhye region. These are Sumy, Belgorod, Poltava and part of Zaporizhzhya regions. These people would be happy to go to Kharkiv, instead of the extra 300 kilometers ride to Kyiv.", - said the investor.
