Coordinator of Kharkiv preparation for Euro 2012 Aleksandr Yaroslavskyy believes that the construction of a new airport passenger terminal capacity "Kharkiv" is 4,8 million passengers per year.
"We had a nice settlement by the Austrian and German companies, and they determined that there are 4.8 million of potential passengers in Kharkiv. 600 000 now flying through Kyiv. These are Sumy, Belgorod, Poltava and part of Zaporizhzhya regions. These people would be happy to go to Kharkiv, instead of the extra 300 kilometers ride to Kyiv. We did these calculations and started working" - said A. Yaroslavskyy in an interview to "Izvestiya in Ukraine".
According to him, now in the Kharkiv airport there are works on building of the runway, which are expected to be completed by the end of this year.
