Yaroslavsky returns to investment activities

Such conclusions can be drawn from the author's column of Yaroslavsky, published by Kyiv Post.

Head of Applied Political Studies Center "Penta" Volodymyr Fesenko believes that the sudden public activity of Alexander Yaroslavsky has no political motives.

"Yaroslavsky has always distanced himself from politics. He also was a deputy, and he extremely did not like it. Ever since the crisis of 2008 he has some available funds. He then managed to get rid of unprofitable assets," - says Fesenko.

This information was confirmed by a member of the Ukrainian Society of Financial Analysts Vitaly Shapran: "Yaroslavsky at the moment, before the crisis, has accumulated considerable liquidity. And now he can buy almost everything. After all, everything now is very cheap, and the deal will be profitable in any case. So that, in my opinion, today is very favorable time for Yaroslavsky."

Financial analyst Alexander Okhrimenko does not exclude the participation of Alexander Yaroslavsky in privatization process, although at a special status. "In the course of the privatization Yaroslavsky could act as a kind of arbiter. Besides, it is very profitable for him even from a business perspective. Privatization itself  has no value. But today you can cheaply buy anything with the expectation that in 5-10 years, and perhaps earlier, these assets can be re-sold ten times more expensive", - believes the expert.

Such a scenario is not excluded also by the director of the Institute of Economy of Ukraine, General Director of "Ukrainian Investment Business Association" Alexander Goncharov, "Those companies that are now offered for sale are competitive. The only thing is that they do not have enough working capital – those, that has Yaroslavsky. Therefore, it is all logical. And, perhaps, it is right from the point of view of the entrepreneur that he decided not to "sit in the cache" and invest in assets which work."

Chairman of the Board of PJSC CB "Khreschatyk" Dmitry Gridzhuk believes that "Yaroslavsky would be interested in objects that bring a stable and high income. Such objects include energy, processing industry and agricultural sector. Therefore, there will be possibility of strengthening the business impact on Kharkov region, the surrounding and other regions", - said Gridzhuk.

At the same time, experts are unanimous in saying that the arrival of responsible and effective owners needs significant efforts in improving  the investment climate. "To make national capital work in the manufacturing sector, it is necessary to protect both the rights of lenders and borrowers. All businesses today talk about the necessity to adopt a pool of economic laws to raise the investment attractiveness of Ukraine and the individual objects. And only then investments will really come to Ukraine, technological innovation and improvement of the standards’ quality will begin", - summed Dmitry Gridzhuk.
