During the first quarter of 2010, 1 mln. 670 thousand passengers were transported in Ukraine. The share of the Kharkov airport was only 2% or 33 thousand passengers. However, for three months, there has been an active stream of passengers increase, amounting to 25% compared to the same period last year. Volodymyr Vasylchenko, director general of the International Airport "Kharkiv", told this on the airforum, reports "Glavnyy" correspondent.
According to him, against the Ukrainian growth, this is quite significant level of increase in the number of passengers. "The share of Kharkiv Transportation means that Kharkiv has great potential and possibility of increasing the growth of passenger flow," - said Vasylchenko.
He added that the coverage area of the Kharkov airport has approximately 4.3 million potential passengers. 42% of them fly to European countries, 54% through the airports of Russia go to Asia.
Given the public demand, the promising routes from the airport "Kharkiv" are being developed. In particular, to St. Petersburg, Moscow, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, major European capitals, as well as Egypt, UAE and Turkey. According to Vasylchenko, the first results of the development of new routes Kharkiv citizens will see this year.
"We see that the potential for these routes is very high. According to the business plan, the increase of passenger traffic by 2020 will be to 2 - 2,5 million passengers per year ", - summed airport director.
