The new terminal of International Airport "Kharkiv" is planned to open on 23 August 2010. After that, the terminal will be closed for the certification of the state commission. Told Aleksandr Sivalnev, the head of the Directorate for the construction of IA Kharkiv, reports Kharkov.proUA.com correspondent.
According to Sivalnev, on August 23, the day of liberation of Kharkiv, there will be a ribbon cut ceremony in the terminal building, the airport will launch work on domestic flights, but after some time will be closed again. Fully terminal will be ready for use in the fall.
Sivalnev noted that finishing works on the new building are not completely done. It is also necessary to work on the terminal equipment: lifts, escalators, baggage systems.
"All these systems are planned to be set up during the summer and early autumn", - said Sivalnev.
Also, he said, the terminal must be equipped with telecommunications equipment.
"Modern airports suggest that the passenger must be informed in real time", - said Sivalnev.
With regard to the runway, Sivalnev noted that this year the state plans to allocate funds for the construction of 75% of the runway, but the contractors expect to grout in the concrete on the entire runway.
"But the runway includes not only the concrete. There should be landing lights", - said Sivalnev.
However, according to Sivalnev, the runway will be fully ready by the summer of 2011. Then the flying over should take about 3 months and by November 2011 Kharkiv airport airfield will be fully ready.
