Royal pilots in International airport “Kharkov”

On August, 27th British national team of helicopter sport stopped over at International airport “Kharkov”. The team was going home after the participation in the 14th FAI World Helicopter Championship, which just before was held at the “Drakino” airfield (Moskovsky district, Russian Federation).

While the crew team, among them – the private pilot of His Highness Prince William, were resting after the flight, the technical service accommodated air fleet of 12 helicopters (among them – unique BJ105 of RedBull team) on the International airport “Kharkov” apron.

The new apron was put into operation in January 2012. Functionally it is an element of airfield complex and it is used as “parking” and airplane maintenance near the airport terminals. The apron is designed for 21 parking points for all types of medium-range aircraft (e.g. Boeing 737 and Airbus A-320). Vladimir Vasilchenko, CEO of New Systems AM (the operator company of International Airport “Kharkov” belongs to DCH group headed by Alexander Yaroslavsky), mentioned: “Due to operation of the new apron we significantly expedited aircraft maintenance. In return it upgrades the attractiveness of our airport for air carriers and involves new air companies. And, of course, it creates more comfortable conditions for passengers on arrival and departure stages.”
