On August 28, 2010 in Kharkiv has opened a new passenger terminal with area of 20 thousand square meters. The new airport terminal is designed to service domestic passengers and passengers flying abroad. Before the opening the facade was decorated with airplanes` models.
The terminal is significantly different from the existing air terminal complexes in Ukraine due to the high ceilings in the registration hall and natural light, which was made possible by glass openings in the roof.
In the registration hall there are 18 counters, of which 1 to 12 will serve international flights, and from 13 to 18 – will serve domestic ones. Reception of the internal lines is operating and connected to the baggage system, installation of the baggage system in the international sector still in progress.
At the opening, airport Kharkiv terminal served domestic flights for arrival and departure. In the general area two cafes, newsagent, post office, pharmacy were working. Prices in the cafe were quite reasonable for the airport - muffins and cakes UAH 3-5, big sandwiches with ham and vegetables – UAH 20, tea - UAH 8.
Passport Control, and 1 of 2 baggage carousels have already been installed in the arrivals area of international flights. In the near future the installation of computer systems for border and a system for luggage will continue.
In the right wing on the 1 floor is located departure lounge for domestic flights. On August 28, domestic flights were served by the sector for domestic flights of the new terminal. In the area after controlling for aviation safety, there is a small cafe, where the prices are higher than in the general area!
In the hall of international flights there is a small cafe, also provided space for newsstands and gift shops, and business lounge. Glass wall allows to create a buffer zone and to distribute the gate between the domestic and international sectors, depending on the number of flights. Transportation of international flights from the old to the new terminal is expected after installing and testing of all systems of the international sector.
