Kharkiv had been improved: in preparation for Euro 2012 a new airport terminal opened

Kharkiv strengthens its domestic leadership in preparing for Euro 2012. Next to the stadium Slobozhanschyna received a new airport terminal.
On Saturday, August 28 in Kharkiv, with the participation of the first person in the country was opened a new airport terminal. The main investor of construction - the president of DCH and FC Metalist Aleksandr Yaroslavskyy - did everything for the event was held in grand style.
President Viktor Yanukovych has arrived to open the first built in the independent Ukrainian time airport terminal. Of course, the Guarantor of the Constitution in the city, where he was popular according to statistics, by definition, was required to be met with pathos. Another matter that the pathos of this event is not amazing, but retains the best traditions of Soviet-flattery. In front of the entrance to the new terminal on the walls of the adjacent building was posted on the tremendous big-board with the image of Viktor Yanukovych and the text "Yanukovich - our president" and "Party of Regions - our party."
Later, during walk across Kharkiv the author of these lines made a conclusion that a banner near the airport – too small in comparison with those which flaunt on buildings around Kharkiv city centre. The first secretary of the Kharkiv City Council fulfilling duties of the mayor Gennadiy Kernes has tried most of all. The huge portrait of the Leader has covered almost a half of front wall of the mayoralty. On this background other "guarantors" looked more modest, but thanks to frequency of flashing constantly reminded Kharkiv visitors of that big love which is feeled by townsmen to Mr. Yanukovych.
But to the airport territory. On located on airfield areas TVs they`ve shown "cinema" with bright shots of presidential everyday life. Along the new terminal, behind a special obstacle the group of admirers of the Leader was standing. Gathered, undoubtedly, following only a heart on city suburb Kharkiv citizens have arrived to the place of event beforehand to courageously, under strong flaws to wait the head of the state for more than two hours. About high patriotism of Kharkiv citizens says that fact that approximately half from those who has arrived to greet the Guarantor, have brought on "fishing tackles" blue-yellow flags.
But here's a shout sounded "lift up flags, please", which meant only one thing - the President is about to appear. Another ten minutes and a tuple consisting of the jeeps, drove from the left of the new terminal. After a restrained applause for Yanukovych by thankful Kharkiv citizens, the president went, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister on Euro-2012 Boris Kolesnikov, Head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration Mikhail Dobkin, Aleksandr Yaroslavskyy and Gennadyy Kernes to a specially constructed near the entrance to the terminal platform. In his speech, the President was strict and laconic. Denoting the spectrum of goals and targets on the way to prepare for Euro 2012, Mr. Yanukovych noted the importance of engaging in the process of investment and set the example of Aleksandr Yaroslavskyy.
Then the President, Mr. Kolesnikov and Mr. Dobkin, cut the ribbon and went to see just opened terminal. After 15 minutes, Viktor Yanukovych went to the so-called briefing for the press. So-called because the briefing did not happen. First, the President briefly repeated (only this time in Russian), the main theses of his speech from the rostrum. Then Viktor Yanukovych answered the global question about "goals and objectives", and then: "Time for asking questions is over". Viktor Yanukovych and the rest of Kyiv guests headed to the door.
And journalists could look at the inner "filling" of the new terminal, construction of which is fully funded by Aleksandr Yaroslavskyy, who put on it from his own pocket $ 55 million. According to the head of the Directorate for the construction of the airport Aleksandr Sivalnev, commissioning of the new terminal will serve to 650 passengers per hour. However, at present associated facilities in the terminal are being finished.
But the launch of a new terminal - is only a part of the reconstruction project for the airport, which also includes the reconstruction of the old terminal, construction of a new runway, apron repair and improvement of the station square. Reconstruction is going according the business plan, developed by Airport Consulting Vienna (Austria) and Airport Research Center (Germany).
Note that the DCH Group is engaged in the reconstruction of the airport complex, and the investor of the airfield complex is the state. The next step of DCH company – the reconstruction of the old terminal, which, according to Aleksandr Yaroslavskyy, would cost about $ 50 million.
The new runway with length of 2500 meters is currently under construction for the public funds. This project will cost 137 million dollars. "Of course, it`s nice to have a longer runway, - says Aleksandr Sivalnev. - But, given that the airport in Kharkiv is located near a residential area, 2500 m - is the maximum that we could afford. However, I note that we are building the new runway, and the old one with length of 2225 meters continue to work. The new runway will be put into operation in the summer of 2011."
According to the project, after completion of reconstruction, Kharkiv International Airport will be able to take a variety of aircrafts beginning with the aircraft type Airbus A-320 and Boeing B-737. The new terminal area of more than 20 thousand square meters by 2011 will increase passenger service to 650 thousand people per year. It is also planned reconstruction of the hotel at the airport "Kharkivv", the creation of a modern parking, construction of bus terminal on the square in front of the airport. In addition, according to UEFA requirements, there will be built offices, waiting rooms for drivers, places of welcome and stuff. The project involves separation arriving fans, if such a need arises.
Thus, opening of Metalist stadium on December 5 last year, after a little more than six months for Aleksandr Yaroslavskyy`s money there was built a new airport terminal. When asked what he was going to build now, Mr. Yaroslavskyy joked: "You probably want to bankrupt me." According to internal statistics, the total investment of Mr. Yaroslavskyy to the preparation of Kharkiv for the European Championships 2012 for the mid-2010 exceeded UAH 2 billion.
