On January 15, 2010 in Kharkiv, in the FC Metalist press center DCH group president, the coordinator of Kharkiv's preparations for Euro-2012 Aleksandr Yaroslavskyy met with diplomats of the Embassy of the United States in Ukraine, Joseph Truesdale and Andrew Shernyuk. Commenting on the results of the meeting, Mr. Trusdale said that it mainly was about the economic situation in Kharkiv and region, the issues related to Ukraine preparation for the forthcoming presidential elections, and - in the longer term - for Euro 2012 were also discussed. In addition, the American diplomat said that he together with his colleague gladly took a tour of the renovated - "beautiful" as he put it - the Metalist stadium and thanked Aleksandr Yaroslavskyy for his constructive conversation and warm hospitality.
Aleksandr Yaroslavskyy in his turn, responding to numerous questions from reporters about the situation with the preparations for Euro 2012, the results of 2009 and further plans of DCH, noted that the main task has been solved: Euro-2012 will be in Kharkiv! "The most important result of our work - is that Kharkiv will host Euro-2012! You can only add the end of reconstruction of "Metalist" stadium and the fact that we are full of energy to continue the work we began!"
DCH Group president noted that the work could be conducted more efficiently if he had no problems with financing. "Of UAH 600 million needed for the reconstruction of the stadium (excluding the additional UAH 60,7 million, which are needed to follow new UEFA requirements), UAH 36,6 million were not funded from the state budget, UAH 35 mln – from regional and UAH 15 million from the city budget. As for DCH group, it has fully complied with and exceeded its commitments on funding. We almost always worked in this mode, when all the cash gaps were filled by DCH Group. I hope that in future all participants will fulfill all their financial obligations."
Mr. Yaroslavskyy confirmed that the final completion of the reconstruction of the stadium will take more than UAH 140 million - UAH 60,7 million on account of the additional UEFA requirements and UAH 86,6 million on budget debts of all levels. "Today, the work in premises is going on full swing, according to UEFA requirements we need two more exits from two stands - North and South" - said FC Metalist president. He also said that they plan to replace the lawn on the stadium: "The lawn will be changed as soon this Ukrainian championship ends. We plan to begin the replacement works in late April. Perhaps the last game we'll play on another stadium to give three months time to complete the process. The lawn will be very good. Myron Markevych wants our players to play on the best lawn in the world". According to him, the question of whether a lawn planted with grass or with turf is being discussed now.
Commenting on questions about the situation in Kharkiv airport, DCH Group president said that "... everything goes according to plan with terminal, about 200 people work there, we do finishing work, so weather or political problems don`t interfere". According to Yaroslavskyy, a new terminal scheduled to be completed in August this year.
