The UEFA Delegation Visited Kharkiv International Airport

On February 3, the UEFA delegation headed by David Taylor, the UEFA Secretary General, visited Kharkiv International Airport on its trip to Ukraine aimed at the inspection of the Euro-2012 facilities.
<P>On February 3, the UEFA delegation headed by David Taylor, the UEFA Secretary General, visited Kharkiv International Airport on its trip to Ukraine aimed at the inspection of the Euro-2012 facilities. <BR></P> <P>In accordance with the Euro requirements, a new terminal is currently being constructed there. The project envisages that the terminal complex will serve the major passenger flow of team members and fans. The terminal’s handling capacity will be from 650 to 2,000 people per hour. The property is to be commissioned in May–June 2010. As far as the old airport building is concerned, it will be preserved. Its major reconstruction will start as soon as the construction of the new terminal is over. <BR></P> <P>Vladimir Vasilchenko, Director of New Systems AM, mentioned that today more than 70% of preparatory work (the underground phase) is over, the foundation is laid. By the end of the next month assembly of the metal structures framework will begin. Vladimir Vasilchenko said: “Implementation of the project enters the next stage. Of course, completion of the construction is still a long way off; however, I’d like to say that the result is to be impressive. According to the project, the new terminal will comply with the most up-to-date requirements for technical equipment, convenience, service and safety. The building will also have very impressive design and finishing.” <BR></P>
