On Wednesday, August 31, 2016, the First Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Dmytro Storozhuk met five representatives of Ukrainian business who turned to him for protection of their rights against arbitrariness of some representatives of law enforcement bodies – states the Department of Public and Mass Media Relations of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine at the official website http://www.gp.gov.ua/ua/news.html?_m=publications&_t=rec&id=191656.
Dmytro Storozhuk promised to go into the submitted complaints and proofs impartially and thoroughly. He said that businesses in Ukraine should feel they are protected and that representatives of the Prosecutor General’s Office mean to do everything possible to achieve this.
A member of the supervisory board of Kharkiv Tractor Plant JSC was present among the mentioned above businessmen at the meeting on August 31. He informed Dmytro Storozhuk about the situation at the Plant that had stood idle for more than 4 months because of groundless actions of some security forces representatives; he also asked for protection.
Some time ago the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yurii Lutsenko urged Ukrainian businessmen to send to the Prosecutor General’s Office complaints of being put under pressure; he entrusted Dmytro Storozhuk with this matter. “On the initiative of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine we are starting the practice of meeting the business in order to protect the rights that were violated by law enforcement bodies”, said Dmytro Storozhuk.
Besides the representatives of Ukrainian business and the Prosecutor General’s Office, the meeting was attended by “the defender of business” Oksana Malevanna and the people’s deputy Oksana Prodan who thanked the Prosecutor General’s Office for the initiative. “I do hope that the people who have turned to the Prosecutor General’s Office for help today will be able to defend their rights”, said Oksana Prodan.
