The efforts of the famous Ukrainian businessman Oleksandr Yaroslavsky to resume the work of Kharkiv Tractor Plant were appreciated by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.
The country’s leader expressed his position on Friday, March 3, when meeting the employees of the enterprise in Kharkiv.
“An investor was found, the investor was strongly supported by the country’s and the region’s leadership. 74 mln. UAH was invested only to pay salary arrears, 150 mln. UAH only to buy component parts”, stressed the President.
We would like to remind our readers that last year Oleksandr Yaroslavsky became the owner of the enterprise that was on the brink of collapse. He explained his decision by the importance of the plant for the region’s economy as well as for the thousands of Kharkiv families whose members work either at the Tractor Plant itself or in affiliated industries. During several months the investor put more than 200 mln. UAH in resuming the production.
When inspecting the revived enterprise together with Oleksandr Yaroslavsky the President of Ukraine stressed that with the help of the new investor it became possible to retain the productive capacities and the technical documents. “We never let plunder the equipment, we never let plunder the documents. The principal task for us is to revive the production”, said the head of the country.
Petro Poroshenko emphasized that recently a decision has been made to include the production of Kharkiv Tractor plant in the state defense order. “The other day the 2017 state defense order was signed. In it there is work for Malyshev (the Malyshev Plant – UN) and for Lviv, and for Mykolayiv, and for Kyiv, and for Zhytomyr armoured vehicle plants. Good news. There is an order for Kharkiv Tractor Plant, too”, stressed the President of Ukraine.
According to the President, they are planning to revive the production of lightly-armored tow trucks MTLB at the plant. “MTLBs have shown themselves to advantage. Nobody except you, people with institutional memory, will be able to launch this production”, said Petro Poroshenko.
In his turn Oleksandr Yaroslavsky, who personally stood up for the plant’s right to live, pointed out that 70 machines have been made since Kharkiv Tractor Plant began operating. “But we are planning to produce 150 machines”, said the owner of the plant.
Oleksandr Yaroslavsky stressed that the price of XTZ tractors is 3-3.5 times lower than of their foreign counterparts. According to Yaroslavsky, all legal proceedings involving Kharkiv Tractor Plant are over, the plant’s accounts and equipment are released. The Kharkiv businessman thanked the President for his help in resolving the plant’s problems.
We would like to remind our readers that Kharkiv Tractor Plant resumed its work on January 6, 2017 after standing idle for ten months. It became possible due to a 400 mln. UAH credit line opened by the new investor in September 2016. Currently the enterprise is actively recruiting workers of key vocations. The overall investment of DCH Group headed by the beneficiary Yaroslavsky in Kharkiv Tractor Plant will make up 300 to 500 mln. USD.
