On June 8, 2011, at the International Airport "Kharkiv" (airport operator - the company "New Systems AM", Oleksandr Iaroslavskyi`s DCH Group) was officially tested the capacity of the new passenger terminal.
The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister - Infrastructure Minister Borys Kolesnikov, director of the local organizing committee of Euro-2012 Ukraine Markiyan Lubkivsky, the general investor and coordinator of Kharkiv's preparation for Euro-2012 Oleksandr Iaroslavskyi, representatives of local authorities.
Markiyan Lubkivsky thanked the organizers of the test: "Of course, we still wait for the official results, but you can make the first conclusions that the test was successful. I want to thank the team of the airport and Oleksandr Iaroslavskyi personally for the excellent work." He also outlined the specifics of the organization: "Kharkiv first used the virtual system in which information about the arriving guests comes to the host city before the physical arrival of the flight".
In addition, it is the only city in Ukraine, where it is physically possible to carry out such testing, because there is a functioning new terminal. I am very pleased that through our joint efforts (we have organized training of Kharkiv airport staff in Dublin), the advanced world experience has been applied today. "Speaking to reporters, the director of the IOC also expressed satisfaction with English level, which staff of control posts at the Kharkiv terminal demonstrated: "The people who helped carry out testing demonstrated an adequate level of knowledge of the language, allowing for an appropriate level of serving guests of the tournament."
Oleksandr Iaroslavskyi, as an investor of building of a new terminal, in turn, told reporters that the assessment of conformity of the object to the established norms should be given from the outside: "For me as for Kharkiv citizen and the owner of the object it`s hard to evaluate it. Let's see what the press writes"
We recall that 1300 students of Kharkiv universities helped to arrange airport test "for strength". This number of participants was due to the fact that the design capacity of the new terminal also is 1300 passengers per hour. Accordingly, that many passengers will IA Kharkiv take during peak load, which is expected at the time of Kharkiv match of Euro 2012. In addition, eight aircrafts - a real flight and seven aircrafts imitating takeoff and landing were involved for testing.
Official test results will be announced on June 15.
We also recall that on April 27, 2011 the International Airport "Kharkiv" had successful preliminary test of the capacity of the new passenger terminal.
