“Kharkov EURO-2012 preparation success would have been impossible without contribution of public-private partnerships”, the city mayor Hennadiy Kernes said to the delegation of European journalists.
Media representatives from France, Poland and some other countries of the Old World arrived in Kharkov on June 7 in order to inspect the facilities of EURO 2012. The press tour was organized by EURO-2012 Local Organization Committee. Journalists made a sightseeing tour of the city, visited a number of the UEFA criteria sited.
At the City Hall presentation representatives of municipal authorities traditionally presented to the reporters the projects implemented within the framework of preparations for EURO 2012 both by state budget funds and through private investments.
As a reply to a French journalist concerning the funds invested by Alexander Yaroslavskiy, the general investor and coordinator of the Kharkiv Euro 2012 preparation, said that to date he has funded the works on the construction and reconstruction of key facilities in the amount of approximately $ 250 million.
Kharkiv mayor, who took the floor after Yaroslavskiy, has pointed out that public-private partnership has demonstrated its effectiveness in the preparation of Kharkiv for Euro-2012. At the same time, Gennady Kernes could not remember the names of investors apart from Alexander Yaroslavskiy and Sapronov, as well as could not recollect the amounts invested by them to the city preparation for Euro 2012.
