In September 2013 Passenger Traffic of Kharkiv International Airport Increased by 22% Compared to the Last Year

Kharkiv International Airport has summarized results of its operation for the last September. The passenger traffic in September 2013 increased 22% compared to September 2012: from 53.1 thousand to 64.9 thousand. As before, the passenger traffic on international destinations (57.7 million) exceeds substantially the domestic passenger traffic (7.2 million). In September 2012, the above rates were 43.6 million and 9.5 million (+32% and -24% in 2013, respectively).

From January to September 2013, the passenger traffic of the Kharkiv International Airport was 460.2 thousand people (+20% compared to the same period last year). Among them: 400.3 thousand passengers – on international flights (+31%), and 59.9 million people (- 23%) – on domestic ones. Last year, the above rates were 383.5 thousand people: 305.5 million – on international flights and 78 million – on domestic ones.

In autumn 2013, the Kharkiv International Airport keeps expanding its route network. In particular, on October 1, Kharkiv airport made one of the most important steps to develop its international air service by launching a new regular Kharkiv – Warsaw – Kharkiv flight, which will be operated by Wizz Air, the leader of the European low-cost transportation sector.

In addition, in order to further develop the route network and establish mutually beneficial contacts, representatives of the Kharkiv airport took part in World Routes Development Forum 2013, an international aviation forum held in Las Vegas (USA) from 5 to 8 October. This year, the large industry event has been attended by over 3,000 delegates from all over the world. Participation in this forum enables airlines, airports and other industry enterprises to consolidate already existing partnerships and to enter new markets actively.

As a result of visiting World Routes 2013, the delegation of the Kharkiv International Airport made a number of preliminary agreements. Implementation of such agreements will allow the airport to take up a stronger position in the European and international air transportation markets.
