The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko met the majority shareholder of the largest international corporation Glencore Inc Ivan Glasenberg and the owner of DCH Group Oleksandr Yaroslavsky on January 18, 2017, on the second day of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
During their work meeting they discussed issues concerning attracting investment in Ukraine’s economy.
Ivan Glasenberg confirmed the interest of Glencore Inc in reviving and modernizing the Ukrainian economy. Namely, he stated that the corporation together with Oleksandr Yaroslavsky’s DCH Group was planning to take part in JSC “Turboatom” privatization tender.
The parties also discussed the prospective of scaling up Glencore’s activities on developing the agricultural sector, a strategic area of Ukraine’s economy.
Kkarkiv Tractor Plant was mentioned as a successful investment project of agricultural machine building. The Plant was launched by Oleksandr Yaroslavsky with assistance from the President of Ukraine on January 6, 2017; in order to do it Mr. Yaroslavsky allocated 400 mln. UAH. The President of Ukraine pointed out that due to the fact over 3.000 people got their jobs.
