5-star hotel on Svobody square will fit into the architectural ensemble of Kharkiv

Town Planning Board fully approved the construction of Kharkiv 5-star hotel for Euro 2012 because it is completely compatible with the architecture of the city centre. This on September 23 in the forum, "Building a European Ukraine - Kharkiv are preparing for Euro 2012," said the rector of the Kharkiv State Technical University of Construction and Architecture Yuriy Shkodovskiy, reports the correspondent of "Glavnoe".

According to him, the controversy about the building on the territory of the park on Svobody square started in the 30-ies. Finally the demanded project, which also would not spoil the existing style of neighboring buildings, appeared.

"The challenge was to find the position for a new hotel in the town planning aspect. We`ve found visual communication and the axis, at the crossing of which we determined the location. What in my opinion is its advantage? If you look at high-altitude scan, the new hotel does not fall off the context of the historical heritage of architectural constructivism and attempts to imitate in some way... But the interest itself is that it will be built entirely by new principle, in Kharkiv, there are no such hotels. By organizing the space around the hotel around atrium... the area will come inside the building to a courtyard... The building has pretty well blended in urban structures and did not cause any protests," - said Shkodovskiy.

He added that the construction of the 11-storey building in no way affect the operation of the subway. "The bearing constructive of the hotel is made considering the technical condition of subway. I think the hotel needs to be protected from the functioning of the subway station, and not vice versa "- summed up the architect.

Recall, the hotel was designed by Kyiv chief architect Sergiy Babushkin. It is designed for 172 rooms with multi-function hall, fitness (SPA) center, shopping and entertainment facilities. Volume set contains the underground level, and eleven floors above ground. In the underground level there is parking for 54 parkspaces and the hotel premises. The ground floor includes entrance hall of the hotel, shopping and entertainment facilities, a cafe, a lobby bar.
