The operating company of Kharkiv International Airport “New Systems AM” that is part of Oleksandr Yaroslavsky’s DCH Group, is the first in Ukraine to have received a perpetual certificate of the aerodrome compliance with the highest standards set for the EU airports by the European Commission Aviation Safety and Services Regulation.
“On June 1, 2019, the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine issued a new type of aerodrome certificate to the operator of Kharkiv International Airport, the “New Systems AM” company. The document certifies that the airport complies with the current standards of Ukrainian aviation developed on the basis of the European Commission Regulation No. 139/2014 as of 12.02.2014,” goes the public statement of the Airport’s press office.
In accordance with the standards of the European Commission Regulation, Kharkiv International Airport run by “New Systems AM” will be under regular audit to show its compliance with the European Commission’s safety requirements and to show that the aerodrome, its equipment and infrastructure meet the industry demands of EU airports.
“Having embraced the mechanism of aerodrome certification, the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine made an important step on the way of European integration of the national aviation operations. It also set a useful example of the regulatory authority and operators’ interaction while introducing European standards,” was a comment on receiving the certificate by the operating company of Kharkiv International Airport “New Systems AM”, part of Oleksandr Yaroslavsky’s DCH Group.
As the Airport’s press office pointed out, experts of the aerodromes certification department of the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine helped Kharkiv International Airport in every way by consulting and assisting in making out the necessary documents throughout the certification process that started in December 2018.
Kharkiv International Airport (hrk.aero) is one of the key amenities of the “first capital” of Ukraine and Kharkiv Region. DCH Group of Companies owned by the Ukrainian businessman Oleksandr Yaroslavsky made investment in its restoration and redevelopment within the framework of preparing Kharkiv’s key amenities for the European Football Championship in 2012 (Euro-2012). The businessman’s investment in the project including the construction of a new passenger terminal and reconstruction of the old one amounted to over 107 million USD. The government invested a similar sum in renovating the state-owned airfield.
Dramatic improvement of inbound and outbound services made it possible for Kharkiv Airport to set new historic records in 2018. About a million travelers enjoyed the services of Kharkiv International Airport during the year. In 2018, Kharkiv International Airport launched 6 regular flights to London, Vienna, Dortmund, Katowice, Gdansk and Wroclaw as well as seasonal flights to Tbilisi, Batumi, Milan, Barcelona, Rimini and Burgas. In 2019, Kharkiv Airport announced further expanding of its flight geography along with increasing the number of partner airlines. The total amount of international departures in 2018 amounted to 3,139 with Kharkiv International Airport being one of TOP-5 air hubs of Ukraine in terms of passenger flow.
Leading carriers like Wizz Air, Turkish Airlines, Pegasus, Ryanair, LOT, UIA, SkyUp Airlines, Buta Airways and many others are among the companies that operate regular international flights from Kharkiv.
