For the construction of the runway of the airfield in International Airport "Kharkiv" they doubled the number of workers. This was reported on July 5 to "SQ" in the press service of DCH, which deals with the reconstruction of the airport. Modernization of the airport has employed 163 workers and 107 pieces of equipment of the SU-813 (at the beginning of the year there were about 80 workers). In the airport there were built 2 thousand 300 meters of the new runway of 2 thousand 500 meters planned in the project.
According to the press service, 200 m of new main taxiway were also built, which will run next to the new runway. Commissioning of the new runway is scheduled to the end of 2011, and after the old runway will be used as additional space for aircraft parking. The new runway will be equipped with special equipment that will allow taking off and landing at the airport when the visibility is not less than 300 m. The airport now has the equipment, which leads to a cessation of flights, if visibility is less than 800 m.

Reconstruction of the airfield complex, which includes reconstruction of aprons, runways, installing lighting system, construction of the rescue station, construction of dispatcher towers is carried out by the state budget.
