On October 7, 2008, a general membership meeting of the European Business Association regional branch, devoted to the preparation of the city for hosting Euro-2012, took place in Kharkiv. Sergey Storozhenko, the Deputy Head of the Kharkiv Regional Council, and Elena Derevyanko, the Counselor to the President of DCH Group, attended the event as special guests.

Mr. Storozhenko emphasized, “Today all Ukrainian cities participating in the preparation of this country to Euro-2012 have equal chances – now there are no leaders or reserve players. And the choice of the city to host final matches of the European football championship in 2012 depends only on the effort made by the authorities and business.” Sergey Storozhenko highly estimated the contribution of DCH and, personally, Aleksandr Yaroslavskyy to the preparation of Kharkiv to Euro-2012, and invited the audience to also join the preparation, with regard to their resources and business interests.

Elena Derevyanko, in her turn, informed the participants of the meeting about the course of DCH projects implementation, and drew their attention to the fact that investment activity in the region (in particular, in the industry of hotel, transport and other services), as well as the enthusiasm of the business community and all Kharkiv residents are among key factors, which will determine the final pool of cities hosting Euro 2012.
