Kharkiv International Airport increasing passenger flow with international flights

Kharkiv International Airport summed up results of its work in January-April 2014. The total number of flights in the given period was 1372, which is 6 % more than last year with 1292 flights. Comparing with 2013, the number of internal flights in the period of January to April 2014 decreased by 10 % - from 501 to 405 flights.

In contrast to that, the number of international flights is growing: 920 flights were carried out from January to April 2014, which is 16 % more than during the same period last year.

Kharkiv International Airport is continuing to increase the volume of passenger traffic. For example, in January-April 2014 this indicator came to 158 thousand people (+ 10 % comparing to last year). A tendency towards decreasing of demand for internal flights remains unchanged in 2014. Comparing two similar periods of 2013 and 2014, the number of internal flights has decreased by 18 % this year and makes up 20 thousand people as opposed to 24 thousand last year. Meanwhile, the volume of international passenger traffic has increased by 15 % – from 120 thousand people in 2013 to 139 thousand in 2014.

In the new spring-summer season Kharkiv International Airport is continuing to widen its international route map. Particularly, a Greek air company ELLINAIR is beginning to perform flights from Kharkiv to Salonika from the end of May, and Ukrainian International Airlines (UIA) is introducing new Kharkiv-Barcelona and Kharkiv-Batumi flights.

The airport also offers tourists now popular flights to resorts of UAE (Dubai), Greece (Heraklion), Turkey (Antalya), Tunisia (Monastir), and Montenegro (Tivat). Among other popular flights one can find a Wizz Air operated low-cost Kharkiv-Warsaw flight which was opened last year.
