Kharkiv – Yerevan Direct Flights Launched

On December 22, 2013, direct flights between Kharkiv and Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, were launched. Armenia has become the third country in the Caucasus region on the flight map of the Kharkiv International Airport. Earlier in 2013, regular direct flights from Kharkiv to Baku and Kutaisi were launched.

Regular Yerevan – Kharkiv flights are operated by UTair Ukraine air company. The type of aircraft used is ATR 72-500. This new turboprop airplane is made with 58 passenger seats of economy class.

The planned time of departure from the Kharkiv International Airport is 08:50 a.m., and from Zvartnots Airport (Yerevan) – at 15:20 p.m. (local time). At first, flights will be operated once a week, on Sundays. The cheapest single ticket, including taxes and fees, will be $ 200.

“The Kharkiv International Airport continues its successful cooperation with UTair Ukraine air company, which results in launching more and more beneficial directions. For instance, in 2013, the air company launched a direct flight to Baku, and now, as it was previously planned, UTair Ukriana started flying from Kharkiv to Yerevan. We suppose this direction will be popular. It can be objectively confirmed by the first flight which was loaded for over 90%”, said Vladimir Vasilchenko, the CEO of the Kharkiv International Airport.

Background

Kharkiv International Airport (http://hrk.aero/) is one of the key objects of the capital of Sloboda Ukraine. It was reconstructed in preparation for the finals of the European Football Championship 2012. The large-scale project dates back to April 1, 2008, when New Sistems AM (DCH Group owned by Aleksandr Yaroslavsky, a well-known Ukrainian businessman, general investor and coordinator of the Kharkiv preparations for Euro 2012, the President of FC Metalist in 2005-2012) won a competition for a long-term lease of an integral property complex at the Kharkiv Airport.

The Kharkiv International Airport was reconstructed in the form of state and private partnership. Aleksandr Yaroslavsky has invested in the project (airport and surrounding area) $ 107.2 million in total. The State Budget has invested $ 191.3 million in the reconstruction of the airport.
